Victoria Houston- Principal

I must say that it is a privilege to be the Principal of Brookside Elementary School. My name is Victoria Houston, and I feel extremely lucky to work with our amazing, intelligent, funny and curious students on a daily basis. My favorite part of my daily routine is to visit the classrooms and be visible throughout the school so I can engage with all our students. It is my goal to ensure Brookside is a safe and welcoming environment for each of our students so they can grow academically, socially and  physically to reach their greatest potential.

I have been working in the Milford Public School District since 1997 in a variety of different roles.  I have been an Administrator in Milford since 2016, starting my administrative career as the Assistant Director of Special Education, then Assistant Principal of Brookside in 2020 and finally Principal in 2022.   I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Framingham State College and my Master’s Degree in Special Education from Providence College.

I have two adult daughters that were raised in Milford and are also pursuing their career in education.  My personal interests include spending time with my family, staying active, going to the beach and taking care of my dogs!
I feel there is something special about Brookside School and I look forward to working with your family and watching your child grow!

Rachel Ritchie - Assistant Principal

My name is Rachel Ritchie, and I am honored to be the Assistant Principal at Brookside Elementary School.

I grew up in Miami, Florida and have always loved school, from my first grade years of riding the bus home eager to teach my little brother everything I learned, to my daily rounds as an assistant principal visiting classrooms to see all of the incredible work students are engaging in. I continue to be amazed and inspired by the amount that I learn from students each and every day. My goal is that each child feels that they belong - that they are seen, heard, and valued for who they are, and that they have the tools and supports they need to learn and thrive at school.

I have worked in Massachusetts public schools for almost a decade, teaching second grade and fourth grade in Newton before completing a leadership program and most recently serving as an Assistant Principal in Hopkinton. I have a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Education Leadership and Management from Fitchburg State University.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, going hiking, reading books with my kids, and walking my dog Luna.

The partnership between home and school is so important for student success - please reach out anytime with questions or ideas to share. I look forward to getting to know you and working together to support our students!
